Responsibilities
Assist clients in selecting appropriate eyeglass frames and lenses based on their prescription, facial features, lifestyle, and visual needs.
Take accurate measurements of clients’ eyes and facial features to ensure proper lens centering and frame alignment.
Interpret prescriptions provided by optometrists or ophthalmologists and provide professional advice on suitable lens types, coatings, and materials.
Adjust, fit, and align eyeglasses to ensure comfort, proper vision correction, and aesthetic appearance.
Provide after-sales service, including routine adjustments, cleaning, and maintenance of eyewear.
Advise clients on lens care and the proper use of optical products and accessories.
Provide information on available eyewear options, such as progressive lenses, photochromic lenses, and blue-light filters, to assist clients in choosing appropriate solutions for their needs.
Maintain client records, including prescription details, frame selections, and service history, to ensure consistent follow-up and personalized service.
Perform basic frame repairs such as tightening screws, replacing nose pads, or reshaping bent frames.
Operate optical laboratory equipment to cut, grind, edge, and polish lenses according to prescription specifications, ensuring precision and quality.
Assemble lenses into frames and inspect finished products for accuracy and workmanship.
Maintain and perform minor repairs on optical lab tools and machinery to ensure smooth operation and product consistency.
Supervise and train new or junior staff in customer service procedures, product knowledge, and eyewear fitting techniques.
Qualifications
- Completion of a recognized ophthalmic dispensing or optical sciences program
- Must be a Licensed Optician
- Minimum 1 year of experience as an optician
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Experience with optical lab equipment (lens cutting, edging, assembly) is an asset
- Experience training or supervising junior staff is an asset
